I'm most happy to present a collection of photos from the fabulous Steve Earle/Allison Moorer concert at the Theater At Newburyport High School in Newburyport, MA on 8/15/2008. DJ Neil MacDonald is also pictured and lent an impeccable hand to the music. I first saw Steve Earle about five years previously with Jackson Browne and Keb Mo at Meadowbrook in Gilford, NH. Though I'd never heard Earle's name, turned out I was familiar with his music through artists like Shawn Colvin who'd covered his songs, and that evening I became an instant and avid fan. Virginia-born and Texas-raised, Steve Earle eventually moved to Nashville to pursue a career in country music. His early success as a songwriter rightly blossomed into a career as a successful and adored musical artist. Steve's recent move to Greenwich Village, NYC, reflects his eclecticism and frees him from Nashville's musical and political constraints. His most recent, Grammy Award-winning album, "Washington Square Serenade", documents his geographical change and speaks volumes of his continuingly vibrant, artistic growth. His mainly acoustic show in Newburyport with partner/wife Allison Moorer in this wonderfully intimate setting, combined with Steve's passion and easy stage presence, made for a once-in-a-lifetime experience in performance and songwriting mastery. The first two photos are of my girlfriend Marna with Steve before the show.
Enjoy! Ernie
